RUMFORD — Police said a moose had to be destroyed after it and a car driven by a Rumford man collided Thursday night on Route 2.
The driver, Stephen M. Dyer, 30, was not hurt, Police Chief Stacy Carter said by email. The accident occurred at 9:52 p.m. near Madison Condos.
Carter said the injured moose was put down by a Rumford officer, tagged and given to an assisting motorist.
Dyer’s 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser sustained front-end damage and was driven away.
