LIVERMORE FALLS — Treat Memorial Library has announced its upcoming activities.
This month, members can stop by the library and guess how many pieces of candy corn are in a jar. The participant who guesses right or comes closest will receive a prize on Halloween.
Preschool Story Time is offered every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. This month there is a special story time at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, known as the Halloween Spooktacular. Participants can wear their costumes and hear Halloween tales. There will be Halloween games, festive food, creepy crafts and prizes, including healthy snacks.
The library will also take part in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program, a self-paced program that readers can begin with their child at birth to before the child enters kindergarten.
The program is simple, parents should read to their child and keep track of any titles read. Tracking sheets for the program will be available at the library.
The Teen Writers Group will meet at 6 p.m. Thursdays on Oct. 1, 15, and 29. All area teens interested in writing are welcome to attend. This is an opportunity to learn how to improve writing and learn how to critique and support others in the process. Writers are encouraged to bring in a piece of writing that they would like to workshop with the group.
The book club will be exploring an eerie mansion with “The Haunting of Hill House” by Shirley Jackson at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8. The Magic and Mystery Fall/Winter book series will continue through January. Readers should let the assistant director know if they would like a copy of one of the books up for discussion.
The knit/crochet group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27. This is the perfect time to start a project for those who haven’t started on holiday projects yet.
For those who want to learn how to knit or crochet, a teacher and materials will be available. Experiences knitters are also welcome.
