The meeting begins with a 4:30 p.m. walking tour of the Loring Avenue area, followed by a special neighborhood workshop meeting at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium of Walton School, 92 Mary Carroll St.
LEWISTON — City Council workshop and regular meeting in the City Council Chamber on the bottom floor of City Hall. The workshop begins at 6 p.m. and agenda topics include bond sales, disposing of city property, installing four sidewalk beacons and supporting a community food effort. The regular meeting begins at 7 p.m. and topics include entertainment permits, allowing residents around the city to keep chickens, solid waste fees, union contracts and cable TV management bylaws.

AUBURN — Regular meeting of the City Council’s subcommittee on Public Safety and Community Service, 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room on the second floor of Auburn Hall.
LEWISTON — Meeting of the City Council’s Immigrant and Refugee Integration and Policy Development working group, 6 p.m. in the Administrative Conference room on the bottom floor of City Hall.
AUBURN — Meeting of the Lake Auburn Neighborhood Watch group, hosted by the Auburn Police Department at 6 p.m. at the West Auburn Congregational Church.
AUBURN — School Committee, 7 p.m., City Council Chamber of Auburn Hall. Agenda: report on extended learning opportunities held this summer.
Thursday, Sept. 8
AUBURN — Public meeting to discuss the proposed reconstruction of Hampshire Street between Gamage Avenue and Turner Street, 5 p.m. at the Auburn PAL Center, 24 Chestnut St. Work will include roadway improvements with new pavement, drainage, curbs and sidewalks.
AUBURN — Regular meeting of the City Council’s subcommittee on Finance and Administration, 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber on the second floor of Auburn Hall.
Friday, Sept. 9
LEWISTON — YWCA’s first gathering of the new Women’s Walking Group, all women in L-A community welcome, at 4 p.m. at YWCA on East Avenue. A potluck will be held before the walk. The Women’s Walking Group is a PEACE (Positive Ethnic and Cultural Exchange) program to build community among women and emphasize cross-cultural exchange.
