FARMINGTON — The annual Franklin County Fiddlers Home for the Holidays celebration/reunion concert will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at the North Church, 118 High St.

This annual concert features current and former members of the group, which was founded 23 years ago by director Steve Muise. Members have performed domestically in New Orleans and Nashville, as well as internationally in Price Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ireland.

The Home for the Holidays idea came from Phill McIntyre, who observed members were “happy to meet and sorry to part.” He held the first annual reunion concert in Carthage.

The concert will feature current members of the Franklin County Fiddlers from Mt. Blue High School, along with tunes put together by alumni and friends.

Each year the group donates all of the proceeds from the concert. Previous donations were made to the school system, the music teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, and the Farmington Ecumenical Heating Fund. United Way of the Tri-Valley Area received last year’s proceeds.

This year, Youth Group at Old South will receive the proceeds to support its Coat and Cupboard project, which offers free gently used coats, sweaters, hats, mittens and blankets to community members.

Desserts will be sold at intermission to benefit the Farmington Historical Society.
