HCC free family ski night 

FARMINGTON — Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County will offer a free family ski night from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at Titcomb Mountain.

The event aims to get youth and families active in their community and encourages kids to be active. 

Funding for this first free night is provided in part through the Carol M. White PEP grant.

An additional night of free family skiing will be offered on Feb. 17. 

Free rentals will be available at both events while supplies last.

AHCH training for grief support

LEWISTON – A four-session training for volunteers interested in supporting patients and families through the loss of a loved one is being offered at no cost by Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.

Classes are scheduled for from 1 to 4 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 6 and 13, Thursday, Feb. 9, and Friday, Feb. 17, at AHCH’s Lewiston Office, 15 Strawberry Ave.

Key topics discussed will include active listening, the difference between grief and depression, establishing appropriate boundaries and choosing the right words when someone is grieving.

Once trained, volunteers can assist AHCH patients, meet with family members, help with bereavement reassurance calls and participate in special events that support people through the grieving process.

Mahoosuc Land Trust tracking animals

BETHEL — Mahoosuc Land Trust will host an open house and tracking event at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at the Valentine Conservation Center, 162 North Road. 

Those attending should bring snowshoes.

Canton tailgating bicentennial fundraiser

CANTON — Canton’s Bicentennial Committee  will hold a fundraiser for its bicentennial, set for 2021.

The kickoff event is a football Tailgate Party from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at the Canton Caboose, the old train station in the center of town.

Food provided will include pulled pork nachos, beef skewers and mac and cheese bites. Cupcakes will be provided by culinary students of Region 9.

There will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle.

Tickets are $20 each and will support the town-wide celebration occurring in the summer of 2021 when the reaches the milestone of the 200th year of being a town.
