Bertha Gravel was crowned Mother of the Year 2017 at Oak Park Apartments in Lewiston, where she has resided for 27 years. Gravel, who still lives alone and cooks for herself, is 101 years old. Gravel has four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was accompanied by her daughters, Joanne and Marcelle. They helped her celebrate with flowers, a cake and a beautiful pearl ring, given to her by David Sites.
