AUGUSTA (AP) – Gov. John Baldacci is setting aside a day to recognize a century of service by the U.S. Army Reserve.
In an observance Tuesday with leaders of the Auburn-based 619th Transportation Company, Baldacci thanked members of that and other units for their commitment to preserving public safety.
The 619th served a year in Iraq and returned in 2005. The company ran convoys of equipment and supplies in northern Iraq.
Baldacci signed a proclamation recognizing April 23 as Army Reservist Day.
