If we hadn’t watched Little Phillip II’s limp body course down the plumbing ourselves, we’d swear that Little John ate him.

The goldfish named – again, purely at random – after Maine’s governor has inexplicably ballooned in size. He is, by far, the heartiest of all the Littles.

Little John is the first to snatch up food each morning before it can even sink to the bottom of the tank. He’s also the first goldfish to greet his caretaker each morning, seemingly saying “feed me.” Rumor has it he was caught on the Web cam pushing Little Chandler side with his left fin in a tussle for pellets.

To highlight water-quality issues with the Androscoggin River, the Sun Journal plunked five goldfish in a tank of water from the Andy and named them after the candidates for governor – the people with the power to effect change.
