FARMINGTON – A new executive director for the United Way of the Tri-Valley Area has been named.

Lisa Park Laflin of New Vineyard will begin duty as director on June 30. Laflin worked as community building coordinator for the Healthy Community Coalition, a part of the Franklin Community Health Network, since 2004.

That work made her familiar with the communities served in Franklin County and the Tri-Valley area, according to a statement issued on her appointment.

In making the announcement, the organization’s board of directors said Laflin will bring several nonprofit skills to the organization, including community building, strategic planning, project management, resource development and grant writing.

“It is an honor,” Laflin said.

“I have a passion for Greater Franklin County and I look forward to building the communities’ caring capacity to address increasing need. Among my first priorities will be telling the story of how United Way plays such as significant role in this community, and working with equally passionate board members to engage others to serve their community.”

Laflin grew up in New Vineyard and returned there with her husband, Brent, and two children, Park and Riley in 2000.

She has a bachelor of arts degree in English and art history from the University of Maine at Orono, and is working toward a master’s degree in community planning and development with a health planning track at the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine.
