FARMINGTON – Selectmen heard an update Tuesday on the town’s new Pierce Quint firetruck. It is due to arrive May 21, and firefighters will undergo training on May 22 and 23.

The Livermore Falls Fire Department can have the ladder truck that it purchased from Farmington on May 25. The Pierce Quint replaces it.

The board also heard an update on two memorial projects for Mary Wright, former chairwoman of the board, who died in January. A total of $1,700 in donations has been given in her memory for Walton Mill pond dam. The second project, a memorial bench at Walton Mill Park, has been started but not advertised yet and has received one donation.

In other business, the board accepted a donation of $500 from Sports Projects Inc. for the Parks and Recreation Department. Mickey Amlotte from Lewiston runs games of chance at the state fair and annually gives proceeds to area youth projects. This year, the donation will be used to upgrade the video game presentation at the Community Center.

The employment of Sean Estabrook as a probationary member of the Fire and Rescue Department was confirmed by the board.

Donations to the Walton’s Mill Dam fund in memory of Glenadine Ladd were accepted.

The board designated May 20 as Arbor Day in Farmington. The town, recognized as a Tree City USA by The National Arbor Day Foundation, urges residents to plant trees and support efforts to protect trees and woodlands.

During the board’s executive session, no action was taken on the police personnel matter and the assessor’s employment agreement was negotiated.
