LIVERMORE FALLS – SAD 36 reviewed a proposal to restructure the administrative team Thursday as it moves toward regionalizing support and administrative staff with the Winthrop School Department.

The new organization is expected to cost about $90,000 less than the existing one. It was presented on a flow chart and included the superintendent/business manager as the regional director.

Most of the positions already exist in SAD 36, Superintendent Terry Despres said, except an owner’s representative to oversee construction projects.

No names were mentioned in any of the positions. Board Chairwoman Denise Rodzen told directors that if people asked them questions about the restructuring, that they should recommend that the people attend the next school board meeting.

The proposal is scheduled to be discussed again at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at the Cedar Street Complex boardroom.

According to the new organization, under the superintendent for support services, there would be a half-time transportation supervisor position, and a trip/activity scheduler under that position; a half-time owner’s representative with a maintenance supervisor under that person; a technology director with a half-time integrator; and a half-time nutrition consultant.

Under Despres is an educational leadership team and a grade school principal, middle school principal, high school principal and an exceptional education director, which is a stipend position.

The next tier under that group is a half-time kindergarten-through-grade-12 activity director and another position of athletic supervisor beneath that person, and a half-time sixth-through-12th-grade principal.

The educational leadership team and superintendent will also work with a half-time No Child Left Behind director, who will also work with instructional development team and Title 1 Reading First representatives.

The activity director would coordinate the use of fields and buildings. Each building will determine the needs and block those dates off before giving the proposal to the activity coordinator, and the coordinator will take it from there, Despres said.

It will be a coordinating effort for both schools and community, he said.
