SOUTH PORTLAND — Nine high school marching bands from southern Maine and New Hampshire competed Saturday at South Portland High School.

Bands receiving the highest one-star rating were Sanford and Wells. Bands from Biddeford, Edward Little, Leavitt and Old Orchard Beach received two stars, while bands from Dover, N.H., South Portland and Westbrook received three stars.

 The next marching band show will feature 11 bands from Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts and be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Biddeford High School. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.
