AUBURN – Gloria Marie (Douin) Hobert, 62, of Farmington, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, at the Hospice House in Auburn with her loving husband, David, by her side.

She was born Feb. 27, 1947, in Augusta, the daughter of the late Robert and Hermance “Marie” (Godbout) Douin. She married David Hobert in Madison in 1965.

Gloria worked at Farmington Shoe Co. for many years, but her favorite job was being a loving wife and mother. She was an avid hunter and fisherman and excelled at both. She loved the outdoors, her garden, lawn and her beautiful flowers. If anyone knew “Ma” Douin, then they knew Gloria. She was the kindest and most generous person we knew … always giving and never wanting back. She has gone to be with the Lord, her suffering is over and she can be with “Ma” again, whom she missed every minute. Her pain was unbearable, but she kept holding on for her loved one, ’til she couldn’t anymore. That was the kind of person she was. We will all miss her and hold her in our hearts forever.

She is survived by her husband, David, of Farmington; two sons, Daniel of Hudson, Fla., and Jimmy and his wife, Jeana, of Farmington; five grandchildren, Riley and Jennica, Ariel, Tiffany and Theresa; four brothers, Robert Douin and his wife, Laurette, of North Anson, Laurent Douin and his wife, Diane, of Hudson, Fla., Emile Douin and his wife, Sharon, of Norridgewock and George Douin and his wife, Teri, of Everett, Wash.; four sisters, Madeleine Kaspick of North Olmsted, Ohio, Constance Gilman, Jeannette Hilton and her husband, Richard, and Christine Nelson, all of Norridgewock; a special niece, Diane Douin, of Norridgewock, and “Sammy,” her beloved dog; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Sandra Cook and her husband, Reggie, of Wilton.

She was predeceased by her folks; and her brother, Roger Douin.
