LEWISTON – Florence Searles, 56, of Twenty-Four Old Lisbon, died peacefully Wednesday morning, Nov. 9, at home.
She was born March 31, 1949, in Lewiston, the daughter of Ellen and the late Walter Searles Sr. of New Gloucester.
Florence worked in a restaurant clearing tables and washing dishes until her health declined. Her family recalls her independence during this time and that she was happiest when she was working. She always enjoyed people and being active in her community.
She enjoyed spending time with her mom, with Donna and with Florence’s dear friend, Bruce. She was an avid bowler and loved to listen to all types of music, especially oldies and hymns. Florence loved to be outside and to spend time with the “Fat” cat.
She is survived by her mother, Ellen Searles of New Gloucester; brother, Walter “Skip” Searles of New Gloucester and Donna Searles of Poland; niece, Kristin Searles and grandniece, Melody Brown.
She was predeceased by her father, Walter Searles Sr.; sister, Jean Searles Wiers; and many aunts, and cousins.
Florence was loved by many and will be sadly missed.
