SHELTON, Conn. – Inez Ruth Goddard, 89, of Shelton, Conn., peacefully passed on to her next existence on Oct. 6.

She was the first child of Carl M. and Matilda Stein Goddard. She was born on March 3, 1916, in Lisbon Falls, and attended local schools and graduated from Lisbon Falls High School.

During World War II, she served with distinction in the Women’s Army Corps at various locations around the country. Upon being honorably discharged at the end of the war, she settled in California to pursue a career in office management with the Bergin-Brunswig Corp.

After retiring, she stayed in California for a few years, but then moved to Rochester, N.H. As her health deteriorated, she relocated to the Wicke Health Center in Shelton, Conn.

She is survived by her brother, Hazen C. Goddard and his wife, Carol, of Fairfield, Conn.; and loving nieces an nephews.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Winnifred P. Wyndham and Lois M. Glassford; and her brothers, Keith K. Goddard and Norton R. Goddard.
