LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women has announced its July programming. All morning programs are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The center will be closed Monday, July 24, through Friday, Aug. 4, and all Fridays, except for Gardening with Ali and Grace, through Labor Day.

Good Food Bus: 9:30 a.m. every Wednesday, starting July 19. The bus is a mobile food market with stops across several Maine counties that brings fresh vegetables, fruit, and other essential food items to where people live, work, and play. The Good Food Bus is a project of St. Mary’s Nutrition Center. A EBT card can be used.

Gardening: 9 a.m. to noon every Friday. Join Ali and Grace, Bates College student interns, to weed, water, prune and prepare products using produce grown at the center.

Calendula Tea-Making: Monday, July 10.

Salve-Making: Monday, July 17. Learn how to make calendula tea and salve using calendula flowers.

Salted Herb-Making: Tuesday, July 11. Learn how to pick, dry, and prepare salted herbs. All these products will be available at the Lewiston farmers markets starting in August.

Avena Botanicals trip: Wednesday, July 12. The center will provide a trip to Avena Botanicals in Rockland for those women who help garden on Fridays at the center and/or at Whiting Farms.

Peasant Pantry Café: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 13. The café features one-pot sustainable meals from different countries. This month, the dish is Pad Thai from Thailand. The free meal is open to the public, and donations are welcome.

Dee’s Summer Potluck: Tuesday, July 18. Join the center for a summer potluck and wish the AmeriCorps, Vista employee farewell. Bring a dish to share; there is a sign-up sheet on the door.

Singing Circle: Thursday, July 20. Join the center to sing empowering songs with sisters, followed by a simple shared meal.

What’s Cooking?: Wednesdays, July 5 and 12. The center will provide ingredients for guests to cook and create a healthy meal.

Women’s Healing Arts Circle: Thursdays, July 6 and 20. The center will continue to host Dr. Maryam Mermay as she leads a circle intended for women seeking to heal the loss of a loved one, a relationship, an ability, one’s home, the loss of one’s sense of self, or any other source of grief through a life-giving and playful connection with the arts.

Bingo: Tuesday, July 18.

Art Van: Wednesday, July 19.

July Birthday Celebration: 12 noon Wednesday, July 19. July birthdays will be celebrated.

Clothing Give-Away: Thursday, July 20. The center will hold a clothing give-away during a day-long event.

The center’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Fridays for gardening only. All women are welcome, programs are offered free and no appointments are needed. Oatmeal breakfasts are available daily, and the center has a shower.

The center is also seeking volunteer applicants for companions. The commitment is a half-day weekly. Those interested should contact Executive Director Klara Tammany at 207-513-3922.
