FARMINGTON — New Ventures Maine has announced three tuition-free classes and workshops in Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties to help people move forward in planning a career, managing money and starting a business.

My Money Works: Sept. 6, 13, 20 and 27, and Oct. 4, Farmington. The class will teach skills and confidence to stretch money, pay bills, reduce debt, find money for savings, plan for retirement and set personal financial goals. At the end of the class participants will have a plan to achieve greater financial stability. A follow-up session is scheduled to provide additional networking and support. Successful completion of the class meets one of the requirements for the Family Development Account (FDA) and Rainy Day Savings (RDS) matched savings programs.

Budgeting Basics: Wednesday, Sept. 20, at FEDCAP Office, Oxford; and Tuesday, Sept. 26, SAD 52 Adult Ed, Turner. Participants will learn the basic components for building a budget, money tracking, goal setting, and how having a sense of overall financial situation can assist in the process of building a budget.

Your Money Personality: Wednesday, Sept. 27, FEDCAP Office, Oxford. Instructors will use a fun and unique “Money Habitudes” card sort activity to identify money management style. Developed by Syble Solomon, the process helps attendees learn how their habits and attitudes toward money affect decisions and actions related to money.
