LEWISTON — Weekly music in Lewiston returns on Sept. 6, as the Oasis of Music, a free, half-hour series at Trinity Church, 247 Bates St., every Wednesday from 12:30-1, begins its new season. Violinists Jessie and Greg Boardman will join forces with pianist Scott Vaillancourt for a performance of four church sonatas composed by Mozart.
Mozart composed some 17 of these lively one-movement pieces to be inserted at some point in the liturgy of the cathedral in Salzburg, Austria, mostly for two violins and organ. Scott Vaillancourt, music director and organist at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, will play the piano at Trinity for this performance.
