LIVERMORE — Selectpersons learned Tuesday night that a 2008 town policy outlines rules and regulations for cemetery plantings and decorations.

Administrative Assistant Amy Byron said former Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub contacted her after reading a recent newspaper article about complaints from Robert Martin, who mows town cemeteries. Complaints included plantings covering neighboring stones and cans, plastic flowers and signs that make it difficult to mow properly. 

Byron found the policy, which specifies what can be planted or placed at gravesites. It also mandates who has authority to remove items that don’t meet the criteria.

“Going forward, when a lot is purchased a copy of the ordinance will be given so they know what can be done,” Byron said. 

In other business, selectpersons agreed to advertise the part-time driver position for another two weeks because there have been no responses. The ad will include the experience desired and minimum and maximum pay range, based on experience.

Selectperson Scott Richmond suggested notifying past drivers that the pay for part-time drivers is $16 an hour.

Selectpersons also signed the fiscal year 2018 tax commitment. Tax bills will be mailed Friday.
