LEWISTON — Armande Poulin, 96, of Lewiston, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 29, in the comfort of her home with family by her side after a long illness. Armande was born in Stornoway, Canada, where she spent her childhood and received her education. She was predeceased by her husband, Dominique, in 1994.
Armande worked as a cook in the lumber camps in Errol, N.H., owned by her late parents, John and Marie Louise Bolduc, where she met her husband. They married and started their lumber camp in Upton, where Armande cooked for the lumberjack crew until the mid ’50s.
They built and operated the Holiday Motel until the early ’70s. They built a house in Lewiston, where they gardened, restored furniture and traveled with the senior citizens from Holy Cross Parish. Armande volunteered her time at Holy Cross Parish. Armande was a member of the Ste. Croix Ladies of Saint Anne. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed cooking for her family as well as enjoyed her poodle, Duke.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Royal, Roland, Lionel, Tom and Monique.
She leaves her daughter, Doris Poulin Roitman, and son-in-law, Peter of Gaithersburg, Md.; sons, Marcel and Andre and daughter-in-law, Monique, of Lewiston; daughter, Helene, and son-in-law, Tom Spring of Carrabassett Valley; her grandchildren, Andrea Poulin Haddad and husband, Michael, and Kevin Poulin and wife Kate; five great-grandchildren, Alexander, Megan, Kiernan, Knox and Kielty; and several nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family would like to thank all the personal aides from Helping Hands who helped care for her as well as the staff at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.
