The all-new 2004 Volkswagen Phaeton represents the automaker’s first foray into the competitive premium-luxury segment.
Stylish lines belie Phaeton’s aggressive stance and presence. Phaeton’s performance begins with two powerful engine configurations. The 4.2-liter V8 engine delivers 330 horsepower. The top-of-line 6.0-liter W12 engine, comprised of two V6s and managed by a five-speed automatic transmission, produces a remarkable 414 horsepower.
Phaeton’s world-class interior and exterior elements convey a sense of safety and tranquility combined with technical innovation and understated elegance. Attention to detail is seen in ample use of premium quality materials in the cabin — from walnut or eucalyptus wood to sumptuous leather and chrome — harmoniously integrated to create ambience, functionality and authenticity.
Drivers can choose from four-seat or five-seat Phaeton models. Both models feature a totally draft-free, four-zone climate control system, Climatronic, with humidity sensors; Xenon high-intensity discharge headlamps with a newly designed washer system; oversized sunroof and a premium AM/FM sound system with glovebox-mounted six-CD changer. An integrated infotainment center with a 7-inch color screen functions with the CD changer, navigation system, onboard trip computer, air conditioning and electronic damping programs; it includes personal profile settings.
