LISBON – The Lisbon Junior Athletic League (LJAL) is busy planning the Summer Softball and Baseball seasons. Although it is hard to look past the cold weather and snow that we see daily, ball games are just around the corner.

Lisbon Junior Athletic League is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing wholesome, enjoyable baseball and softball programs for the youth of Lisbon and its surrounding towns. The organization is run by volunteer board members and coaches. This is the time of year when LJAL plans clinics, schedules games, plans field maintenance, orders uniforms and equipment and begin looking for sponsors. LJAL seeks more coaches and volunteers for the different groups of kids ranging in age from 5 to 15. Divisions are as follows: Baseball, T-Ball (ages 5 & 6), Farm (ages 7-9), Cal Ripken (ages 10-12) and Babe Ruth (ages 13-15); Softball, T-Ball (ages 5-7), U10 (ages 8-10), U12 (ages 11-12), U14 (ages 13-14). Baseball age cutoff date is April 30; Softball is Jan. 1. The program is open to residents of Lisbon and the surrounding communities. Registration is slated for Wednesday, Feb. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 28 from 9 a.m. to noon at MTM Center, School Street, Lisbon Falls
