DIXFIELD – Emily Knapp, Lauren LePage and Shawnee Akers each found the back of the cage as Mountain Valley blanked Dirigo, 3-0, in MVC field hockey action Wednesday.
Emily Child collected assists on the Knapp and LePage goals, while Knapp contributed on Akers’ tally. Emily Gallant made three stops to preserve the shutout for the Falcons (6-1). Brittany Young made 30 saves for Dirigo (1-6).
Jay 2, Winthrop 1
WINTHROP – Gina Nemi converted a pass from Bryndi Richards with five minutes remaining in the first half to lift Jay to a 2-1 victory over Winthrop in MVC field hockey action Wednesday.
Kelsey Beisaw also tallied for the Tigers (6-1), while Sierra Loon made nine saves in net.
The Ramblers (3-4) received their lone goal from Nikki Scott, with an assit from Kelsey Ouellette. Katie Michelsen and Emily Vickerson combined for 11 saves in net for Winthrop.
Hebron 6, Gould 1
BETHEL – Kailey Bubier was unstoppable, netting all six goals, leading Hebron’s offensive attack to a 6-1 victory over Gould on Wednesday.
Bubier got on the board five minutes into the first half, but Gould answered 45 seconds later to even the game. Three more first-half goals gave the Lumberjacks a comfortable lead going into the half.
Brianna Bisesti and Camreee Thompson were credited with assists, while goalie Meghan Munro earned the win, making four saves.
Lisbon 6, Boothbay 1
LISBON – Kait Dingley scored three goals and added two assists as Lisbon routed Boothbay 6-1.
MaKayla Stevens, Morgan Hatherley, and Kelly Bougoin each scored for the Greyhounds (5-2). Goaltender Monica Lakin turned aside six shots for the win.
Boothbay was paced by Lindsay Morton, who tallied an unassisted goal in the second half.
Soccer
NYA 3, St. Dom’s 1
NORTH YARMOUTH – Courtney Dumont registered a hat trick Wednesday as North Yarmouth Academy rolled to a 3-1 victory over St. Dom’s in a WMC girl’s soccer tilt.
Alison Carpenter contributed for the Panthers (5-1) with an assist, while Abigail Moss made four saves between the posts.
Erynne Landry kept the Saints (2-4-1) in contention when she tied the game at 1-1 in the first half. Elise Applegate turned aside 21 shots for St. Dom’s as the NYA offense was in high gear.
Lisbon 5, Boothbay 0
LISBON – Ashley Beaulieu tallied a pair of goals as Lisbon blanked Boothbay 5-0 Wednesday afternoon.
Sierra Guay recorded a goal and an assist, while Megan Latour and Katie Gamache each had goals for the Greyhounds (6-1). Sam Purcell had an easy day in net, facing not a single shot in the contest.
Kirsten Sibley had a strong performance for the Boothbay (0-7) effort.
Hyde 2, Hebron 1
BATH – Hannah Macmillan and Zoe Dorian each scored as Hyde slipped past Hebron and recorded the 2-1 win in girls’ soccer.
Macmillan was the only player to score, before Dorian’s goal midway through the second half to extend Hyde’s lead. Hebron’s Emma Leavitt found the back of the net with less than two minutes to go to cut the lead in half.
Dirigo 1, Carrabec 0
DIXFIELD – Emily Chase fired a shot at 22:13 in the first half to tally the lone goal of the game and give Dirigo the 1-0 victory over Carrabec.
Keeper Lanette Bryant made eight saves to perserve the shutout for the Cougars (3-4).
MacKenzie Weese and Marissa Murray split netminding duties for the Cobras (3-4), combining for seven saves.
Fryeburg 2, Gray-NG 1, OT
FRYEBURG – With just 38 seconds into overtime, Efme Marie blasted a successful penalty kick to give Fryeburg the 2-1 triumph over Gray-New Gloucester.
Fryeburg (2-4-0) got on the board first with a goal knocked in by Eden Ciancolio. The Patriots (2-2-1) answered back in the second half with a goal from Morgan Wilson off a corner kick by Kassie Wilson. Morgan Wilson and Kelsey Redmond had solid performances for Gray-New Gloucester.
