SOUTH PARIS – Megan Gauger singled home the game’s only run in the first inning as Oxford Hills clipped Mt. Ararat 1-0 in KVAC softball action Tuesday.

Caitlin Hanley led off the game with a single for the Vikings (9-5) and stole second. Gauger, the fourth batter of the inning for Oxford Hills, singled home Hanley for the lone run.

Kristy Jurczak fired a three-hitter for the win. Michelle Prevost took the mound loss for the Eagles (5-9).

Poland 13, St. Dom’s 4

POLAND – Krystal Malpass and Courtney Gray had four hits apiece to power Poland to a 13-4 victory over St. Dom’s.

The Knights (5-7) built a 7-1 advantage after two innings and coasted. Danielle Fogg added a triple and two singles and Kacie-Rae Ford contributed two singles. Kelsey Murphy hit a triple for the Saints. Murphy, Mary Lewis, Alex Landry and Jen Cullen each had two hits.

Geo. Valley 3, Mt. Abram 1

SALEM – Georges Valley remained unbeaten Tuesday with a 3-1 victory over Mt. Abram.

Danielle Frye tossed a one hitter and struck out nine for the Bucs. Mt. Abram pitcher Molly McCafferty allowed four hits and struck out two in the loss.

Jessica Keating had two hits for Georges Valley, while Jillian Withee had the only hit for the Roadrunners (5-8).

Brunswick 17, Leavitt 5

TURNER – Kendra Monroe cleared the bases with a bases-loaded double during a nine-run outburst in the fifth inning to lead Brunswick to a 17-5 victory over Leavitt.

The Dragons (2-12) led 5-3 before taking control in the fifth inning. Emily Hartzell had four hits, while Monroe and Haley Clark had three hits each.

Liz Sabine had a home run for the Hornets (4-10), while Kat Rothe had two hits. Alevia Bradley was the losing pitcher.

Buckfield sweeps

BUCKFIELD – Thanks to timely hitting and solid pitching, the Buckfield Bucks dismissed Rangeley with a 6-0 shutout and an 11-2 victory in a softball doubleheader Tuesday.

In Game 1, the Bucks (8-2) extended a 2-0 lead with four more in the fifth inning. Kasey Farrington got the win after pitching four innings. She also had two hits. Teammate Aly Martin also smacked a pair of singles.

Buckfield used a 12-hit attack in Game 2. The Bucks built a 10-1 lead by the fifth inning. Brittany Wiley struck out seven batters and got the win.
