LEWISTON – Brittany Bell placed in three events, including a runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash, to lead the Poland girls’ track team to an eighth-place finish at the Class B state championships at Bates College.
Bell was clocked in 27.36 seconds in the 200, trailing only Greely’s Hillary Cederna, who won the race in 26.74. The Poland athlete also took third in the 400, completing the two-circuit race in 1:02.36. Bell also took fourth in the long jump, with a leap of 15 feet, 7¾ inches.
Also scoring for the Knights was Chelsea Bernardo, who placed third in the high jump after celaring 5-feet.
Tyrus Steinman scored the only point for the Poland boys in the shot put (40-8¾.)
Ben Miklovich helped Gray-New Gloucester tie Freeport for 10th in the boys; meet. Miklovich took third in the 55 dash (6.74), fifth in 200 (23.66) and anchored the fifth-plce 800 realy team, along with Will Danielli, Ethan Ray and Cameron Betts.
Betts and Liam Kalloch finished 6-7 in the 800 in 2:10.06 and 2:10.92, while the 3,200 relay team of Kalloch, Ray, Betts and Sam Kiyanitsa placed seventh.
Leavitt’s lone points were scored by Benjamin Parkin, who was sixth in the 55 in |6.99.
