LEWISTON – Bates College baseball team battery mates Mike Kinsman and Charlie Engasser both earned All-NESCAC baseball honors this spring.

Kinsman, the staff ace, was named to the league’s first team, while Engasser was named a second-team catcher. Kinsman posted the league’s third-best ERA this season (2.09) at the time all-conference voting took place.

His ERA dropped to 1.97 following Bates 16-2 victory over Fischer College on May 13.

Engasser was named to the second team after leading the Bobcats with a .376 batting average.

He was solid behind the plate as well, finishing the 2005 campaign with a .983 fielding percentage.

Bates also had two members of the women’s lacrosse team earn All-NESCAC honors. Erica Nason and Molly Wagner both earned second-team nods. Wagner also received co-rookie-of-the-year honors, sharing the award with Colby’s Lauren Barrett.

Rounding out the list of All-NESCAC selections this spring is softball team member Katie Franklin. Franklin led Bates and finished second in the league with a .391 batting average.
