Shelter sponsoring auction to help pets

NORWAY – Responsible Pet Care, a feline shelter and adoption center, is preparing for its semi-annual ticket auction.

The shelter is facing the financial crunch that has hit the country. Donations are down and the number of abandoned and surrendered cats continues to rise. Staff hopes to raise enough money with the auction to continue to care for all the cats.

The ticket auction will be held on Saturday, April 25, at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, Route 26, South Paris. Bidding will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and the winning numbers will be pulled beginning at 6:30. There will be food and beverages on sale.

Some of the items up for bid are a counter-top microwave, a telescope, a photo printer and a handmade doll. There will be at least 200 new items or certificates from local merchants.

Responsible Pet Care is located at 132 Waterford Road. Many of the cats waiting for homes can be seen at http://www.rpc.petfinder.com.
