FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce is offering scholarships for college-level courses to eligible Franklin County residents.
The chamber awarded two $750 scholarships in 2008 and has increased them to $1,000 each for 2009.
The scholarships are available not only to 2009 high school graduates but to anyone going back to school for a new career, new skills training or continuing past freshman year. To receive the scholarship, the student must be registered as a full-time student.
Funded, in part by the chamber’s fall Scholarship Golf Classic event held at Sugarloaf, the scholarships can also be used for on-campus housing and on-line courses offered by educational institutions if part of a degree program. Deadline for applying is Wednesday, April 15.
Details and an application can be obtained from the chamber’s Web site, www.franklincountymaine.org (in the “About the Chamber” section), or at local high schools in the area. Students may also request a .pdf version of the application via e-mail to [email protected].
