Class holds 50-year reunion
JAY – The Livermore Falls High School Class of 1958 recently celebrated its 50-year reunion at LaFleur’s Restaurant. A social hour from 5 to 7 p.m. was held, followed by a buffet supper. Twenty-five classmates were in attendance, accompanied by spouses and guests.
The floral centerpieces were arranged by Martina Eastman and were later given to the person seated on the “flower chair.” The invocation before dinner was given by Donald Putnam.
A memorabilia table of pictures and yearbooks was set up and a slide presentation of old school photos was put together by Judy Fuller. Guests were greeted by classmate Mary Lou McIver. Name tags with 1958 photos, assembled by Louise Chabot, were given to each guest. They then had to find the individual resembling the photo.
Each classmate was presented a booklet created by Nancy Crosby, including the names, histories, addresses, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of all classmates. The booklet also included a page dedicated to the deceased classmates: Jack Bate, Arlene Strout, Palmer King, Floyd Richmond, Dorothy McLaughlin, Ted Bowen, Richard Despres, Ita O’Hanlon and Donald Nadeau.
A memory board honoring the deceased classmates was arranged by Judy Fuller and was complemented by a vase of flowers and a candle. A moment of silence was held after the list of names was read.
A short meeting was presided over by Nancy Crosby, and it was decided to hold another reunion next year on or about the same weekend. The reunion will be held during the afternoon and will be an informal event.
A 50/50 raffle, won by Judy Fuller, was held to help cover expenses for the next reunion. Fuller donated her share of the raffle to the class fund. Nancy and Bing Crosby entertained the group with music, and Richard Pelletier offered jokes.
The remainder of the evening was spent socializing and reminiscing. Serving on this year’s reunion committee were Chairwoman Nancy Crosby, Judy Fuller, Mary Lou McIver, Louise Chabot, Roland Chretien and Wilson Eastman.
