AUGUSTA – Nominees are being sought for the Patience W. Norman Prize for Teacher Excellence, a $5,000 grant for teachers in SAD 52 (Turner, Leeds and Greene).

Full-time teachers with a minimum tenure of five years in SAD 52 are eligible for the award. Teachers who stimulate intellectual curiosity, raise aspirations and demand critical thinking in their classrooms are eligible.

Nomination forms are available at the Maine Community Foundation; call 877-700-6800 or e-mail [email protected]. Completed nomination forms should be sent to SAD 52, 98 Matthews Way, Turner, ME 04282. Nomination forms must be received by Monday, Oct. 13.

A memorial to high school history teacher Patience W. Norman, the fund was established in 2005 at the Maine Community Foundation to recognize outstanding teachers who stimulate intellectual curiosity, raise aspirations and demand critical thinking in their classrooms.
