WILTON – Boy Scout Troop 518 of Wilton held a Court of Honor, presenting six members their Eagle Awards on June 1.

The awards are the highest rank in Boy Scouting. To receive an Eagle Award, a Scout must receive 21 merit badges and do a service project. Most of the members restored old cemeteries.

Duties to complete a project include finding the project, recruiting helpers, planning supplies and a business that will provide them and writing a report on how the project was accomplished. Boys must complete their merit badges and their project before the age of 18.

Gregory Lake, son of Mark and Lillian Lake of Wilton, received 34 merit badges. He restored the Bubier Road Cemetery in East Wilton. Lake is a college student.

Spencer Dunn, son of Phyllis Dunne, Wilton, earned 27 merit badges. He restored a park in East Dixfield. Dunn is a senior at Mt. Blue High School.

Christopher Smith, son of Mark and Debbie Smith of Weld, received 21 merit badges. He restored Center Hill Cemetery in Weld. Smith is a senior at Mt. Blue High School.

Tyler Trask, son of Debbie and Kevin Trask of Wilton, earned 23 merit badges. He designed a bridge at Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton. Trask is a senior at Mt. Blue High School.

Jacob Couture, son of Tom and Sheila Couture of Livermore Falls, received 23 merit badges. He designed and constructed a retaining wall at the East Wilton Union Church. Couture is a junior at Jay High School.

Ryan Crocker, son of Nancy and Rodney Crocker of Jay, received 23 badges. He restored Grey Yard Cemetery in East Livermore, installed a post and rail fence and cleared brush. Crocker is a senior at Jay High School.

All of the Eagles Scouts received letters of congratulations from Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, Rep. Tom Allen, President George Bush, Gov. John Baldacci, Rep. Tom Saviello and Wilton Town Manager Peter Neilson.

A light lunch was served, including two large cakes honoring the boys.
