Society to elect
DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, in the Charter Meeting Room. The annual business will be conducted, with election of officers followed by Peter R. Stowell speaking of white captives taken to Canada by the Indians. Light refreshments will be served, and the public is invited.
Early bird supper
RUMFORD – An early bird supper will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at American Legion Post 24, Congress Street. The menu is corn chowder, biscuits, corn bread and deserts. It is free to all early bird members.
Harvest dinner
RUMFORD – A public harvest dinner will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Rumford Center Grange 115. Menu will include corned beef and ham with fixings. Cost is adults, $7; children 12 and under, $3. Take-outs will be available.
Storytime
DIXFIELD – Children’s Pre-school Storytime is held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays at the Ludden Library, Main Street.
Seniors meeting
DIXFIELD – Neighborly Senior Citizens will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Dixfield Legion. The meeting will start at 11 a.m. followed by a roast beef dinner served by the Legion at a cost of $4 a person. It will be an anniversary meeting. Entertainment will be by Silver and Gold.
New members are welcome. There are still a few seats available for the Bill Gaither Homecoming Show at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Friday, Oct. 19. For more information, call and leave a message for Connie at 364-2403 or at 946-5393.
Monster bash
RUMFORD – Michael’s Angels Relay For Life Team is sponsoring Michael’s Monster Bash, a Halloween costume dance, on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Eagles Hall. Doors will open at 8 p.m. and attendees must be age 21. Donations are $15 a couple or $8 a person. Tickets are available at Davis Florist and Erik Designs, LLC.
There will be prizes for the most original, the scariest and the funniest costume. DT’s Entertainment will provide the music and there will be munchies, door prizes and a 50/50 during the evening. All proceeds will go to the 2008 Relay For Life event scheduled at Hosmer Field.
