There are thousands of word that kids use everyday. Some more appropriate than others. Kids think it is okay to say “shut up” and “stupid” to each other now. That doesn’t bother kids as much as the newly defined word “retarded”. In the dictionary, the word retarded means slow or limited in intellectual or emotional development or academic progress. Now kids say You are retarded” when that kid is really not mentally retarded.
Kids all around us are mentally retarded and just because you don’t know it, or can’t tell, it does offend them. Kids that are mentally retarded, even a little, just wish to walk around being them selves. When kids make fun of them that doesn’t help at all. So think before you call something “retarded” next time, and find a better word. Or better yet, if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
