Last meeting

DIXFIELD- The Dixfield Economic Development Council met for its last meeting of the fiscal year at Dixfield’s newest restaurant, The Front Porch.

Projects for the past year were reviewed and notes of appreciation were sent to those for their generosityin providing the beautiful hanging baskets which beautify the downtown area. The plants, grown by Carlton’s Greenhouse were purchased with funding from Irving Forest Products and Bangor Savings. Also providing funding was the Dixfield Main Street Outdoor Market Committee. That group always uses monies not needed for advertising the event to support local projects.

New this year were meetings held with the Dixfield Police Department. Dixfield businesses were offered an opportunity to discuss issues of security, open communications with the department and guidelines for dealing with unruly or violent customers. Future meetings will be held to offer additional information.

Updates include:

The business kiosk at the Village Green is close to completion. Engraving of business names and the related map is underway by Express Engraving.

The Committee meets regularly on Thursday mornings at 8 a.m. at the Town Office. New members are always welcome. For more information call Norine at 562-8816.
