Homemakers

PERU – The Peru Extension Homemakers and the Swift River Homemakers will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at the Peru Elementary School.

Wendy Legg Pollock, county educator, will present a program, “Re-Think Your Drink.” Peru will provide the hot dishes and Swift River the desserts.

Anyone interested in the program is invited. A business meeting will follow the program and lunch

Seniors trips

DIXFIELD – Neighborly Senior Citizens will meet on Wednesday, May 16, at the American Legion Hall. The meeting will start at 11 a.m., followed by a potluck dinner and entertainment by Silver and Gold.

There are still openings for the June 3 trip to Indian Head Resort in Lincoln, N.H. Space is also still available for the Friday, June 29, TRIAD picnic in Fryeburg.

On Friday, July 20, members will go to Cabbage Island and there are still openings.

Cost includes a boat ride and a lobster or chicken dinner.

Bill Gaither’s homecoming concert will be held Friday, Oct. 19, at the Cumberland County Civic Center. To sign up for any trips or for more information about Neighborly Senior Citizens, contact Connie at 364-4189.

MEXICO – Mexico High School Class of 1948 will meet for a monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. today at the Chicken Coop.

Women to meet

RUMFORD – The women of Stephens High School Class of 1943 will meet for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at River Valley Grill.

MEXICO – Stephens High School Class of 1944 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 11, at Dick”s Restaurant.

Clean-up day

ANDOVER – Andover Service Circle and Roxbury ATV Riders Club are co-sponsoring a roadside Community Clean-up Day on Saturday, May 12, with a rain date of Sunday, May 13.

Volunteers are asked to report to Andover Town Hall at 8:30 a.m. for bags, rubber gloves and a suggested assignment. Refreshments will be served.

Elks breakfast

RUMFORD – The Rumford Lodge of Elks 862 will hold the annual Mother’s Day service and breakfast at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 13, at the lodge. Menu will include French toast, sausage patty, juice and coffee served in the dining room following the service.

Story time

MEXICO – The following stories will be read at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, at the Mexico Public Library: “Short Train, Long Train,” Frank Asch; “You Think It’s Fun to be a Clown!,” David A. Adler; “Walt Disney’s Dumbo, the Flying Elephant”; and “Floyd, the Tiniest Elephant,” Jack Kent. Clown faces will be made for the craft.

Youth event

DIXFIELD – The River Valley Healthy Community Coalition, in collaboration with the SAD 21 ACCESS After-School Program, will sponsor a youth recognition and celebration from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 14, at T.W. Kelley Dirigo Middle School.
