NORWAY – Norway Memorial Library will celebrate National Library Week on April 16 to 21, with a special Patron Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 18.

The public is invited to “Come Together @ the Library” throughout the day. There will be a variety of refreshments as one way to thank patrons for their use and support of the library. There will be local authors available to sign their books from 4 to 6 and 7 to 8 p.m. by the fireplace and a special family games evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the children’s room.

All over the United States the slogan for the 2007 National Library Week is “Come Together @ Your Library” and through this campaign, the American Library Association is suggesting the many ways that libraries serve as meeting places for their communities.

The Norway Memorial Library is promoting the various ways to do that with puzzle pieces throughout the library that identify resources and services with which people can “come together” with the library.

Some of these ways include using the public access computers or the wireless access, attending story times, book discussions, programs and events, reading magazines and newspapers, checking out audio books and videos, getting help finding information or browsing for a new book to read.

In addition, puzzle pieces will suggest other ways to “come together” with the library that include as volunteers, as members of the Friends of Norway Library, as trustees, as annual fund donors or to meet friends and neighbors, to meet with a tutor, to attend a workshop or committee meeting, to see an art exhibit or glass case display or to get help with taxes.

Residents are invited to visit the library during April to find out or visit the library’s Web site at www.norway.lib.me.us.
