GRAY – A University of Maine Cooperative Extension tractor safety course will be held on five consecutive Tuesdays, starting April 24, at the Maine Forest Service Building, Route 26 (Shaker Road).
The practical course has an easy-to-read manual. Participants’ driving skills and knowledge will be tested using tests developed by the University of Maine and Pennsylvania State University.
“Many of the accidents on farms involve tractors and farm machinery,” said Richard Brzozowski of the Cumberland County Extension office. “Every farm worker needs to develop good skills and a good safety attitude. This course helps them do just that.”
Individuals will receive practical training in the classroom, in the shop and on tractors. Participants should be at least 13 years old to receive credit for the certified course. Adults are welcome to participate.
More information is available from the Extension Office in Cumberland County at 1-800-287-1471 or visit the Web www.umext.maine.edu. Registration is required and space is limited to 25 participants.
