BOWDOIN – The Burnt Meadow Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, has announced that Hannah J. Bradstreet is the DAR Good Citizen for Oak Hill High School of Wales and Colleen M. Weddle is the DAR Good Citizen for Lisbon High School.

Bradstreet is a member of the National Honor Society, has earned several awards for sports activities and academic accomplishments and has been a student of the month.

She has been involved with community activities as a Big Brothers Big Sisters member and has worked with the No Name Watershed Committee to make the pond a healthier place for wildlife.

She is also involved in the work of her church and has been employed by Custom Masonry Inc. and works at the Main Street Market. She plans to attend the University of Maine at Farmington and major in special education.

Weddle is a member of the National Honor Society and has played soccer, basketball and softball. She has worked in the summer reading program, taken part in the Multiple Sclerosis Walkathon, has helped organize and package food to be distributed to the needy through the Good Shepherd Food-Bank and attended the Youth-to-Youth Leadership Conference.

She has worked with the Special Olympics and helped serve the 2005 community Thanksgiving dinner. She plans to attend college and to become a pharmacist or nurse.

During April, the Burnt Meadow Chapter will entertain the DAR Good Citizens and their parents at a lunch and awards ceremony. The guest speaker will be Mrs. Roger Allen, state DAR National Defense Committee chairwoman.
