Last week the MEEP (Maine Environmental Energy Program) sent in one of their employees, Peter Zak, to visit Elm Street School in Mechanic Falls, Maine. They provided a fun program for the seventh and eighth grade and a few invited fifth graders. They met in the technology lab with Mr. Parks. We made cars that ran on hydrogen and oxygen that were found in fuel cells. We added water to the fuel cells and attached one of the wires, put, them on the floor, attached the second wire, and they worked! Some of the comments from the students were, “That’s amazing!” and, “It’s so cool how the cars actually worked!,” also, “It bubbles!”
Many students worked with Mr. Zak and had tons of fun. This article is also meant to say a big thank you from all of the Elm Street students.
