Rotary speaker
LEWISTON – Members of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club will meet at noon Thursday, July 27, at the Ramada Inn to hear a presentation by Matt Schlobohm, director of the Maine Fair Trade Campaign.
A resident of Greene, Schlobohm is a Bates College graduate majoring in political science. Schlobohm has served as coordinator of the Maine Fair Trade Campaign since 2003.
The Maine Fair Trade Campaign is a statewide coalition of more than 40 organizations working to promote fair trade policies and a more just and sustainable local and global economy.
Schlobohm’s presentation is titled “Corporate Globalization, Free Trade and Maine: What Does It Mean for Our Economy, Communities and Democracy?”

Seniors to meet
AUBURN – Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, 426 Washington St. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m. to discuss any unfinished business that may have arisen as the regular meeting was canceled due to the annual picnic July 12.
Bingo will be played after the meeting and a bag lunch. There will be the usual raffle table, and members are reminded to bring their cups.
Sixty-four members attended the annual “cook-in” picnic held July 12 with Irving and Charlotte Grant as caterers. A buffet luncheon was served with Lucien Marcoux as main chef in charge of the hot dogs and hamburgs. Members assisted. Various card games were played, along with bingo after lunch.
Filing assistance
LISBON FALLS – The Maine Property Tax Program offers tax and rent relief to elderly or disabled people who own their own homes or rent an apartment or house. Eligibility is based on income and taxes or rent paid in the previous calendar year.
Help with the tax and refund application will be available on Monday, Aug. 7, at the MTM Center on School Street. Assistance is by appointment only. Call 1-800-427-1241 for an appointment time and a list of what is needed.

Volunteers needed
TURNER – The SAD 52 Volunteer Program for Greene, Leeds and Turner is looking for volunteers to help in different areas of the district school setting for the 2006-07 school year.
Anyone with a special skill to share with students or to assist with chaperoning, screening programs, office work, creating bulletins or reading is asked to contact the volunteer coordinators after Aug. 29:

NEW GLOUCESTER – The New Gloucester Bridge Club met July 23 at the Masonic Building, corner of Routes 100 and 231 where a 2 and 1/2 table Howell movement was played.
