Trip postponed

WINTHROP – The Winthrop Grange 209 Tuesday supper mystery ride has been postponed until Tuesday, June 27. The next public breakfast will be from 7 to 9 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at the Grange Hall, Old Lewiston Road.

The Rural Androscoggin County Triad will host a presentation on safety in the garden for seniors from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the office of Rural Community Action Ministry, 81 Church Hill Road, Leeds. Bird flu discussion

LEWISTON – The rapid spread of avian or bird flu is common among birds, chickens and other fowl. The current outbreak, known as H5N1, is highly contagious among birds and can be transmitted to humans, causing severe illness and possible death.

A presentation on transmission and what people can do to protect themselves will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the Lepage Conference Center, 99 Campus Ave. After the session, Dr. Nedaa Skeik will answer questions. Seating is limited; register at 753-5467.

Bridge winners

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on June 13 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Rosemarie Goodwin and Lucille Theriault; second, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; third, David Lock and Jeanine Kivus; fourth, Leslie Lord and Nancy Lindgren. Flight B winners were: first, Claire Lyons and Helen Little; second, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer.

Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at the center.

The club also met on June 14 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Flight A winners were: first, Mike and Pat Quinn; second, Paul Barber and Luke Merry; third, Richard Balian and Richard Allen; fourth, Bob Berry and Lucille Theriault; fifth, Larry Fortier and Anna Vitiello.

Winners in Flight B were: first, Richard Balian and Richard Allen; second, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner.
