When I went shopping with a friend, I heard about a beauty supply store that sells beauty supplies like nail polish, hairspray, curling irons, hair coloring supplies, shampoo, and other hair supplies. I decided to go check it out because I love that kind of thing. When I went in the store, I loved it and I became a beauty supply member so I can get discounts.

When I went home I looked up their website to see what else they had. There were a few pictures of their stores, and then pictures of animal testing popped up! I was really upset and called for my mom. She came to the computer and we looked into it some more and it was true! The beauty supply store sells products that were tested on animals!

Animal testing is the use of non-human life in scientific experimentation. This is one example of a test done on animals by a cosmetic company that I found on the Internet: “After placing the substance in the rabbits’ eyes, technicians record the damage to the eye tissue at specific intervals over an average period of seventy-two hours.” These tests caused swollen eyelids, bleeding, and blindness. The rabbits’ eyes were also held open with clips. Many animals also have broken their necks trying to get away. Scientists say that animal testing is done to help humans, but this type does not.

I have since canceled my membership to the beauty supply store and I am never going there again. Animal testing is wrong and inhumane! Stop animal testing!
