Quilting
PERU – Peru Extension Homemakers will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Peru Elementary School. Members should bring supplies to continue the quilting project started in February. Maxine Palmer has the mystery. Lunch will be a bag lunch.

MEXICO – Mexico Trailblazers will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the town hall. New members are welcome.
Byron caucus
BYRON – Dave Duguay, Town Committee chairman, said Byron Republicans will caucus at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Town Hall.
They will elect delegates and alternates to the state convention, elect members of the Oxford County Republican Committee and organize for the elections. All Byron Republicans are invited. The state convention will be May 5 and 6 in Augusta.
Society to meet
PERU – The Peru Historical Society will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Rockemeka Grange Hall. Members are being asked to bring a story or poem about Peru or Maine.
Class lunch
MEXICO – The Mexico High School Class of 1955 will hold a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Mexico Chicken Coop. For more information or to make a reservation, people can call Doris, 562-8392.
Gallery meeting
RUMFORD – Pennacook Art Center, which was a commercial gallery, will reopen this spring as a nonprofit artists’ cooperative. It will be a juried community gallery featuring the work of local artists and artisans, including sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, fiber arts and woodworking.
The gallery’s next organizational meeting will be 6 p.m. Wednesday in the gallery. Anyone with an interest in art and local artists is welcome. Artists and craftspeople interested in showing their work in the gallery should contact Betsy Bell before Wednesday at 364-7243 or e-mail bgbell@gmail.com.

Park Place history
RUMFORD – The Rumford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the conference room of the Municipal Building, Congress Street.
The speakers will be Gerry and Joline Boudreau, owners of Park Place, who will discuss the heritage of their building, which was once Rumford’s poor farm.
President Bill Weston will ask for an update on the recent variety show’s contribution to the Jane DeFrees Scholarship Fund. Summer plans will be discussed, including operating the museum at Lufkin School in Rumford Center. The public is invited.

Alzheimer’s group

Canoe trips
BETHEL – Bonnie Pooley and Mac Davis will describe planning and leading canoe trips in Maine’s remote lakes at the final program in the Intrepid Trekkers Travel Series presented by Western Mountains Senior College. It will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the West Parish Congregational Church’s Garland Chapel, Church Street.
