WILTON – Drivers using Main Street, also known as Old Route 2, should allow a little extra travel time for the next two weeks, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.

The concrete box culvert carrying Coubers Brook under Main Street about a quarter mile northeast of Depot Street needs to be replaced. To do that, MDOT needs to close the street and detour traffic.

The project began July 5, and traffic is being directed over a marked detour using the Colby Miller Road, Orchard Street and Route 156. Main Street is expected to be reopened to traffic early in the week of July 19.

Completion of the work will depend on the water levels in the stream between now and then.

Some of the work must be done during low water, so if there is a lot of rain in the next week or so, the completion date may need to be moved back.
