LEWISTON – La Survivance Francaise will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, instead of Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Multi-Purpose Center.
The meeting will have installation of officers for the years 2004 to 2006, to be followed by an account in the life of a Somali mother, Dona Adam, who will talk about her birthplace, upbringing and traditions.
To close the evening, Irene Mercier will accompany her sister, Helene Sylvain, on the piano for a singalong. Lil Benoit will serve as hostess.

LEWISTON – The Androscoggin County Republican Women’s Club will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at the Ramada Inn. All Republican women and guests are invited.
Fortier Chapter
LEWISTON – The Dr. Paul Fortier Chapter 52, Association Canado-Americaine, will gather at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, in the Senior Citizens Room of the Multi-Purpose Center.
Following the group’s monthly business meeting, state Sen. Peggy Rotundo will give a brief presentation on state services available for senior citizens, including updates on the prescription drug and tax relief programs. Members will also have a chance to meet and chat with Rotundo over refreshments during the social hour.

AUBURN – Ashlar Lodge 105, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, will work an entered apprentice degree on Monday, Sept. 13, at the Auburn Masonic Temple, 1021 Turner St.

LEWISTON – Irish Ceili and set dance classes will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. beginning Monday, Sept. 13, at St. Patrick’s Church Hall, corner Blake and Walnut streets. No experience is necessary. Cost is $3 a lesson. Those wishing more information should call 933-9761.
Club program
AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston Art and Literature Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at the WLU Clubhouse, Elm Street. Hostesses will be Mary Bell, chairwoman, Mary Godin, Frances Nason and Mary Riley.
There will be an afternoon of music, religious, classical and show tunes with Linda Hargesheimer and accompanist Judy Barnes. Hargesheimer of Monmouth has been with the “Noteables” for seven years and is well-known in many summer churches.
She is a past member of Community Little Theater, starring as Lili in “Carnival,” Julie Jordan in “Carousel” and Marian in “Music Man.” She will soon publish a book, “The Letter of Love: A Guide to Unconditional Love, The Soul’s Purpose and Human Energy Connection.”
Barnes of Winthrop is the accompanist of the Winthrop United Methodist Church.
Youth night
AUBURN – Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, and Auxiliary will hold a youth night and membership meeting at the post home, 426 Washington St., on Monday, Sept. 13. A social hour will start at 5 p.m. followed by a smothered beef dinner at 6 p.m.
The special event will start at 7 p.m. with special guests to include Department of Maine Legion Commander Gene Bickford, Boys State Delegate Governor Max Levine, Girls State Delegate Governor Sarah Whitfield, Athletic Legion Baseball Chairman Brian Strickland, Girls State Delegate Rebecca Lewis, Boys State Delegate Jacob Albert, Gayton Legion Baseball Coach Don King, Sen. Peggy Rotundo, Second District President Edith Lemieux, Department President Jackie Raye, County President Julie Rowe.
After the festivities a post meeting will follow. On the agenda will be membership update, discussion on South Paris Veterans’ Home for a reunion meal at the post in November.

WALES – Lakeside Chapter 60, OES, will honor past matrons and past patrons at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the “Happy Days Are Here Again” meeting at the Grange-Masonic Building. The landmarks will be read and the obligation given.
All members and visiting members are welcome. There will be light refreshments after the meeting.
Lunch ‘n learn
LEWISTON – The Lunch ‘n Learn Program at Hillview of the Lewiston Housing Authority will resume at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15. Linda Dube, home education specialist and associate broker for Community Concepts, will be the presenter. Her topics will be “Home Ownership Opportunities and the Family Development Account.”
