PARIS – The Paris Cape Historical Society will host Pat Stewart, author of “Mollyockett,” at its Thursday, Sept. 16, meeting at 7 p.m. at 77 High St., South Paris. The public is invited.

Stewart is a graduate of Douglass College, Rutgers University and holds master’s and doctoral degrees from Harvard University. She taught at the high school, college and graduate level, then began a career as a management development executive-at-large in companies such as Fidelity Investments and Thomas Cook Travel.

After retiring she studied at the Museum of Fine Arts and co-authored a book on decorative painting, published in 1999 by Rockport Publishers.

The subject of her talk will be Mollyockett, a local heroine in southwestern Maine. Mollyockett was born in Fryeburg (c. 1738) and died in Andover in 1816. She traveled the woodland trails and waterways of New England and Canada throughout her active life.

After Stewart retired and settled permanently in Greenwood, she became more and more interested in the woman, leading to research that resulted in the publication of “Mollyockett.”

There will be an opportunity to purchase the book, meet the author and join in fellowship and refreshments after the meeting.
