Society meeting

FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Valley Chapter, Maine Genealogical Society, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Farmington Public Library. The program will be on the history of the Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad. Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome.

Parenting classes

FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Children’s Task Force will start its fall parenting education program beginning Monday, Sept. 11. Classes will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays, with the location to be announced.

The cost of the programs is $1 a week or $12 for the full 12 weeks of sessions, with scholarships available to those needing them.

Anyone interested in participating in the program is encouraged to call the Franklin County Children’s Task Force at 778-6960 to register. Snacks and child care to be provided.

‘Scales and Tales’

LIVERMORE FALLS – The Chewonki Foundation will visit Treat Memorial Library, 56 Main St., to present a program, “Scales and Tales,” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, in the auditorium downstairs. Children will learn the characteristics, adaptations and ecology of the reptiles. For more information, call the library at 897-3631.

Michaud hours

JAY – Congressman Michael H. Michaud has announced community office hours from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Jay Town Office.

Constituent Service Representative Matt Dubois will be available for those who want assistance with a problem with a federal agency or want to voice concerns about a particular issue before Congress.
