NORWAY – The children at the Norway Children’s Center have been receiving visits from the Bookmobile of the Norway Memorial Library. The volunteers have been visiting local child care centers and summer programs.
The bookmobile visits, usually once a week, are a highlight for the children. Bookmobile staff and volunteers select books that are appropriate for the ages of the children they are visiting and bring them in big, colorful tubs. Someone always reads a story, then there is entertainment or a craft project to do.
At the Norway Children’s Center recently, each child picked at least one book to borrow, then settled in for some sing-along fun with Jan Kubiac and her guitar. At that visit, bookmobile driver Christine Hebert was joined by volunteers Shirley Nardi, Jan Kubiac, Sammy Paine and Chelsea Marshall.
The bookmobile visit is one of the activities children experience at the Norway Children’s Center, which is operated by Community Concepts. The center functions as a Head Start center as well as a child care facility, and there are openings. For more information, contact Denise at Community Concepts, 743-7716, ext. 6374..
