AUGUSTA – The Maine State Organization, Daughters of the American Revolution, will hold its annual board meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Pine Tree State Arboretum.
The executive board will meet at 10 a.m., and the board of management at 11 a.m., with luncheon at 12:30 p.m. The keynote speaker will present “The History of the DAR Historical Gardens” followed by a dedication at the DAR garden. Picnic attire is suggested.

AUGUSTA – Fifteen professional photographers from throughout the country will exhibit their work Monday, June 16, at Lithgow Library, corner of State and Winthrop streets.
The display is part of a professional workshop being conducted by photographer Jay Stock of Martin’s Ferry, Ohio. His work can be viewed at www.jaystock.com.
The print show will begin at 5:30 p.m. with work from all the professionals in the study group. Stock will give a short talk on his work at approximately 6.
A portion of the proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to the library building fund.
Council session
AUGUSTA – The Maine Council of Senior Citizens-ARA will hold its annual meeting at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, at the American Legion, Capital Street Extension. The registration fee of $10 includes lunch and a morning snack.
Speakers will include Gov. John Baldacci. After lunch, members will honor Vi Quirion, a lifelong advocate for Maine seniors and workers.

Greek celebration
PORTLAND – A celebration of Greek heritage and culture will be held at My Big Fat Greek Food Festival from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, June 26 to 28, at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, corner of Pleasant and Park streets. Along with Greek cuisine, there will be live music and traditional dancing. Opa Opa!, a local Greek band, will provide live entertainment on Friday and Saturday.

Mills named
PORTLAND – The University of Southern Maine’s Muskie School has named state Rep. Peter Mills and former gubernatorial candidate David Flanagan to its board of visitors, a group formed in 1990 to serve as external advisers and advocates.
Flanagan is the former president and chief executive officer of CMP Group Inc., the parent company of Central Maine Power and other businesses.
Mills, a partner of Wright and Mills, PA, in Skowhegan, has practiced law in Maine for 30 years.
