TOGUS – The public is invited to a Memorial Day observance at the Togus National Cemetery on Monday, May 26. Local veterans’ organization, the Maine National Guard and Togus employees will participate in wreath-laying ceremonies. Participants will meet in the parking lot in front of Building 205 at 7:45 a.m. There are 5,373 veterans buried at the Togus National Cemetery, which opened in 1867.

Scout open houses

SOUTH PORTLAND – Girl Scouts of Kennebec Council will hold open house days from 1 to 4 p.m. at its resident summer campsites: Sunday, June 1, Scelkit Program Center, Gerrish Island, Kittery Point; Sunday, June 1, Pondicherry Program Center, Bridgton; and Sunday, June 8, Kirkwold Program Center, Readfield.

Each camp’s program center director will be available to answer questions about programs and facilities. Self-directed tours will be offered.
